Privacy & Security

23snaps is a safe, secure and established platform to share your children's photos and videos

We take privacy and the needs of our users' families seriously. 23snaps was created by parents who felt the existing services for sharing photos and videos did not have the necessary privacy and family-focussed features. More than a decade on, we continue to believe this to be the case.

The posts you make to 23snaps are only ever visible to those you choose to share them with. We have always maintained that your data, and that of the people you invite to use 23snaps, is private and will not be exposed to advertising networks.

Photo and Video Storage

All of the content added to 23snaps is uploaded to our secure storage provided by Amazon and Microsoft. Both providers are highly regarded for reliability and security in data storage and processing. All communication is over secured connections and all of our data processing meets the minimum requirements for sites cleared to handle credit card transactions or financial data, meaning we use the same kinds of secure technology as your online banking system might.

Internally, the only staff who can access photo content are those who require access temporarily in order to perform their specific duties; primarily answering support requests. Anonymous usage data is also accessible by some members of staff in order to improve the service and features.

You are always able export and download all of your content you have posted to 23snaps.

Who can see the photos and videos you upload?

The only people who will be able to view any content you upload are those people who you specifically agree to connect with (or your partner connects with). Although partners of your connections are not able to see your posts, you will be able to see their posts if they tag one of their own children.

If you tag another family in your own post, and the tag is approved by family, your post will become visible to the family's connections.

Can you see someone else’s children without them seeing yours?

No, by accepting someone's request to share their photos with you, you are also granting them access to all of your posts.

Can my photos be downloaded?

It is possible for your connections to save the images you share with them to either the computer of their device's camera roll, this is why we recommend that you only connect your 23snaps account to people with whom you trust your images.

Although it is tempting to try to disallow downloading, there is no way to absolutely prevent it from technically happening. Screenshots, screen recordings etc always provide ways around in-app limitations. We highly recommend that you communicate with those you share posts with and let them know you'd prefer that they did not keep or share their own copies of your photos and videos.

What about material changes to the company?

We've been operating successfully since 2012, but in the unlikely event we need to discontinue the service (or if 23snaps were to be acquired by another company), any changes to its features, terms, conditions, management or privacy settings will be clearly communicated through the app, website and email. We will provide as much time as possible to allow users to discuss, understand and ask questions about the pending changes.
